China: Chinese exporters see rebound in US orders amid tariff truce
Storyline: Chinese exporters see rebound in US orders amid tariff truce [Voice_over] This is a food processing factory in China's Jiangxi Province, which produces canned bamboo shoots. On Monday, it received orders from American customers even half an hour before China and the US released joint statement on tariff reductions. [Sound_bite] Chen Zhixiang, Manager, Jiangxi Guangya Food: "This is a list of orders from that day - one thousand boxes to Los Angeles, 9 hundred boxes to New York. In America, it's almost impossible to find other alternatives to replace our product." [Voice_over] According to Mr. Chen, these boxes of canned food will arrive at Shanghai port on Friday, waiting to be shipped to the US. [Sound_bite] Huang Qifeng, Customs Office Chief: "We have received appointments for clearing service from over one hundred exporters since Monday. We are adding shifts and hours to make sure their goods are shipped out on time." [Voice_over] Over in Southern China's manufacturing hub Shenzhen, exporters are also resuming businesses with their US customers. [Up_Sound] US client: "You know, we built a great relationship with you and that our plan is to continue to work with you." [Up_Sound] Wei Xiaoxuan, Head of Packaging, Foreign Trade Company: "Yes, I'm looking forward to do more business with you." [Sound_bite] Wei Xiaoxuan, Head of Packaging, Foreign Trade Company: "Our US customers were thrilled about the tariff reductions. They are very eager to get our products because of the lack of stock." [Sound_bite] Li Baiyan, Head of Export, Foreign Trade Company: "I talked to over a dozen of American customers, on the phone, through e-mails and messaging apps. I have seven programs that got delayed because of the tariffs. The factories have agreed to add shifts to meet our demand." [Sound_bite] Cai Heping, Head of Sales, New Material Company: "We are overstocking on goods for the US market. But now the orders are normalizing. I'm confident that the overstocked goods can be shipped out in the 90-day period." [Voice_over] Here in Huachiangbei, a major retail market for electronics in Shenzhen, business owners are positive about growth over the next two months. [Sound_bite] Lin Hongbin, Business Owner at Huqiangbei: "I believe the sales in June could be much higher than in April. With the tariff reductions, we can compensate our losses from the previous months." [Restrictions : No access Chinese mainland]
