This is the dramatic moment a massive fire ripped through homes in Mexico City.

Video shows the billowing inferno engulfing a building in Azcapotzalco on May 15.

Thick smoke rose from the neighbourhood as firefighters battled to extinguish the flames.

In a statement, the city fire department said: 'We report that in a three-storey, ground-floor building, artistic scenery material, wood, fabric, and ironwork were found burning on the roof in an area of ​​approximately 100 square metres. There were no injuries. The service has been completed.'

In February, a massive fire tore through the city's central market, Central de Abasto.

The incident destroyed around 70 stores as dozens of locals were evacuated from the area.
