After their release in Deir al-Balah in central Gaza, the prisoners arrived at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital for medical checks. The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) facilitated the safe transfer of the prisoners and confirmed its continued commitment to supporting humanitarian efforts and protecting the rights of detainees under international law. More than 9,900 Palestinians are being held in Israeli prisons, where they face torture, starvation and medical neglect—conditions that have led to multiple deaths, according to reports by Palestinian and Israeli media and human rights organizations. The Israeli army resumed its assaults on the Gaza Strip on March 18 and has since killed 2,780 people and injured nearly 7,700 others, shattering a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement that took hold in January. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
