Los Angeles, United States - May 18, 2025 05/18/2025 02:08 am GMT-0700 SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – A woman is lucky to be alive after a violent crash early Sunday morning sent her car through a power pole and a fire hydrant before it came to rest sideways on a backyard wall, trapping her inside for nearly an hour. The crash occurred shortly after 2 a.m. near the intersection of Whites Canyon Road and Ashboro Drive in the Canyon Country neighborhood of Santa Clarita. When firefighters and deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station arrived on the scene, they found a chaotic and dangerous situation: the vehicle perched precariously on the wall, live power lines downed beneath it, and water gushing from the broken hydrant, creating a 50-foot geyser. Fire crews were forced to stage at a distance for nearly an hour while waiting for utility crews to shut down the live wires, uncertain whether the woman inside the vehicle had survived. Aerial footage captured by Key News Network showed the dramatic rescue effort unfolding beneath the towering column of water. Once it was safe to approach, rescuers pulled the woman from the wreckage and transported her to a local trauma center. Her condition was not immediately available. Authorities with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station are investigating the cause of the crash. Drone footage featured here has been reviewed and verified by Key News Network LLC. This aerial UAV footage complies with and conforms to the FAA Part 107 guidelines. All operations were conducted by FAA-certified Part 107 UAS pilot(s).
