The Great Binjustice: Birmingham City Council's failure to empty communal bins as strikes continue
Residents of Birmingham’s flats and large HMO’s have not had their bins emptied for up to 3 months as Birmingham City Council fail to collect the large waste containers.
For the past month the bankrupt council have emptied standard black general waste wheelie bins on a weekly basis.
The green metal bins are often used for larger buildings where normal wheelie bins are too small for the household.
One low-rise block of flats called Sinclair Court in the Moseley area of the city is piled high with both general waste and recycling.
Recycling has not been collected from any Birmingham home since the strikes started in January.
Magpies and a kitten were seen around the waste with the magpies pulling food out of a bin bag on the ground.
In a small passageway to Strensham Court in the Balsall Heath area of the city, a large pile of bin bags were placed into a pile as three large communal bins were full and a small kitten sat amongst the rubbish.
A resident said it had been over 6 weeks since the last collection.
Birmingham City Council were contacted for a statement but have failed to respond.
