Firefighters arrived on scene just after 1:00am and found a large working fire that appears to have started on the exterior and quickly spread through the home. Crews extended hose lines into the house and ladder crews went to the roof and cut two ventilation holes to assist with fire control. The homeowner escaped the fire as crews were arriving on scene. He was treated for minor smoke inhalation and refused transportation to the hospital. Unfortunately, the homeowner's dog was found deceased inside the home during the initial search. Fire investigators are on scene, the cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Members of the community assistance program are also on scene and they are assisting the homeowner with his needs at this time. Captain Rob McDade Public Information Officer Phoenix Fire Department
