WHITE HOUSE SPOKESPERSON KAROLINE LEAVITT ADDRESSING PRESS CONFERENCEWASHINGTON DC, US - MAY 19: "As far the (Israeli) prime minister's comments, I will let the president respond to those," said the White House spokesperson on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's recent comments on taking control of all of Gaza. Spokesperson Karoline Leavitt answered reporters' questions at the daily press briefing at the White House on Monday, May 19. Leavitt was asked about Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu's recent sensational statements about Gaza and US President Donald Trump's stance on this statement. "I will have to talk to the president about those comments as they just came from the (Israeli) prime minister this morning. I will let him speak on that. The president has made it clear he wants to see this conflict in the region end. He wants all hostages released. He was pleased that Elan Alexander was returned to his loving family. As far the prime minister's comments, I will let the president respond to those," she said. On Monday, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu said his army will take over “all of Gaza,” admitting that mounting pressure has forced Israel to resume humanitarian aid into the blockaded Palestinian territory. Israel “is going to take over all of Gaza, that’s what we are going to do,” Netanyahu said in a video message on his X account. Since March 2, Israel has blocked humanitarian aid to Gaza, worsening an already dire crisis. The military campaign has killed more than 53,000 Palestinians since October 2023. Israel faces genocide charges at the International Court of Justice, while the International Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Gallant for war crimes in Gaza.
