A horrified housewife found a massive python eating her pet kitten in her bedroom in Thailand.

Somwang, 59, woke up to the sound of her pet crying in her house in Ang Thong, on May 18.

She turned on the lights, only to find the 15ft serpent squeezing the baby animal to death.

The terrified homeowner fled under her mosquito net and called snake catchers as the python then swallowed the moggie in front of her.

Reptile expert Ratha Tapianthong arrived at the scene and found the bloated reptile coiled next to Somwang's bed.

Footage shows the specialist grabbing the snake with bare hands before dragging it out of the house. She put it inside a sack to be released away from the neighbourhood.

Somwang said: 'I was sleeping alone at around 3 am when I heard the kitten crying. I was shocked because it sounded like it was in pain, so I got up and switched the lights on. I was terrified to find the massive snake eating my pet.

'I waited for it to go away, but it stayed in my bedroom so I called my neighbours for help. Now, I only have three kittens left.'

The reticulated python is found throughout Southeast Asia, where they live in forests, swamps, canals and even in cities, causing them to come into conflict with humans. The species is one of the world's largest snakes and can eat humans, cats, dogs, birds, rats and other snakes.
