This is the shocking moment an escaped ox ran into a road and fly-kicked an oncoming car.

Mr Zhang was driving home from work when the brown bovine suddenly dashed onto the motorway in Chongqing, China.

Footage shows a pedestrian chasing after the animal in an attempt to control it on January 20.

The passing driver narrowly avoided a collision by slamming on the brakes just in time.

The confused and startled ox then extended its hind legs and kicked the car's bonnet before sprinting across the opposite lane.

The pedestrian rushed to guide the animal off the road as another vehicle stopped, waiting for them to clear the tarmac.

Mr Zhang said: 'The ox ran away up the mountain. I called the police to report the incident, and they used drones to search the entire area. It cost them CNY 100 (around 10.90 GBP) to deploy the drone, and they assigned 20 people to help capture the animal.'

The ox was eventually restrained with ropes and transported back to the city.

No injuries were reported from the encounter.
