A massive grass fire engulfed multiple vehicles in Sacramento, California.

Eleven cars along a fence in the Sun Valley Apartments parking area were destroyed in the blaze on Sunday, May 18 afternoon.

Footage shows firefighters battling the flames near the roadside as thick black smoke billowed into the air.

The Sacramento Fire Department said the grass fire threatened several structures, including a nearby church and the apartment complex.

Crews were dispatched to 47th Avenue near Steiner Drive at around 2:40 pm following reports of a blaze spreading through chest-high vegetation on private property.

Resident Angel Dominguez said: 'People from around here don't have much — they just have their little things. I put the seats, I put the motor, I put all that random stuff on there.'

Another local, Alondra Gonzalez, recalled fearing that the fire would reach the building. She said they lost two cars in the incident.

By around 3:30 pm, authorities confirmed the crews had entered the mop-up phase after the fire scorched roughly 10 acres.

No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
