This is the adorable moment a doting pet owner held a lavish wedding for her cherished cats.

Sofia Chen, 48, threw the grand ceremony for her British Shorthairs named Shiitake and Lisa in Chiang Mai, northern Thailand, on May 17.

Footage shows the two felines exchanging rings while a Japanese Spitz named Mach served as the wedding officiant.

Shiitake wore a light blue tuxedo while his bride Lisa was decked out in pearl necklaces and a frilly bridal dress.

Guests applauded when Mach, seen in the video wearing a cute bishop's mitre, barked seemingly to proclaim the cats husband and wife.

A dowry worth the equivalent of 60,000 USD was then given to Lisa before both cats stamped their marriage certificates with their paws.

Proud pet owner Sofia said: 'The idea of organising this cat wedding came from my deep love for cats and a personal dream.

'I wanted to bring happiness to fellow cat lovers who attended the event. This event was meant purely for entertainment, and there were no commercial intentions whatsoever.'

A tea party-style reception was later held in the yard, where guests tucked into a three-tier wedding cake.
