US, Phoenix: Phoenix Water Main Break Causes Sinkhole On 44th Street
Phoenix, United States - May 21, 2025 05/21/2025 02:00 am GMT-0700 PHOENIX, Ariz. – Early Wednesday morning, the city of Phoenix's Water Services crews were called to 44th Street near Oak Street to a water main break. Crews arrived and located a large water main break, spraying water and debris across all lanes, just north of Oak Street. Phoenix police officers closed 44th Street between Oak Street and Vernon Avenue. Water Services shut off the water main before removing the debris and water blocking the road. The road is expected to remain closed for several hours due to a large sinkhole that developed from the flowing water.
