DURANGO, Colo. — For the second time, officers with the Durango Police Department found themselves responding to an unusual call—kangaroo on the move.

The same marsupial that made headlines during a prior escape reappeared this week, hopping through town before settling in a neighborhood backyard. Officers, including Ofc. Garrison, safely retrieved the animal once again and ensured it was returned to proper care.

“Not exactly in the job description,” the department joked in a Facebook post, “but public safety—even with paws and a pouch—is still public safety.”

Durango’s four-legged escapee is now unofficially dubbed the “Most Unexpected Repeat Offender,” and officers say they’re ready should he hop by again.
