A bungling driver strayed out of his lane and crashed into an oncoming pickup truck.

Dashcam footage shows a white Mitsubishi bumping into the white truck on the opposite lane in Rayong, Thailand.

The impact sent both vehicles hurtling and spinning in opposite directions.

They caused heavy traffic in the busy area as the cars blocked both ways.

Driver Suwimol Nueangjamnong, who was behind the pickup when the collision happened, said: 'It happened in front of APEX Apartment. It was so fast, I slammed the brakes.'

Despite being one of the wealthiest countries in Asia, Thailand suffers from chronic underinvestment in its highways and education, contributing to its poor road safety levels. Only a handful of African countries are worse.

Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.
