Home security camera footage captured a man being run over TWICE by his own pick-up truck as it rolled down the driveway when he accidentally knocked it out of park.

Jeff Anderson, 62, rushed after his vehicle but was knocked down as tried jumping in to get to the brakes, slipped, and was run over by the 1.9 tonne 1972 Chevy Cheyenne.

He got back to his feet but was run over by it for a second time when he tried to open the door but miraculously walked away with bruises and scapes.

Jeff was working on the transmission linkage of his truck at his home in Vacaville, California, when the incident occurred on May 6.

He had just completed repairs and taken the vehicle for a test drive but, when he pulled up in his driveway, he remembered one final adjustment needed to be made to the linkage and hopped out to take a look.

Jeff, a semi-retired contractor, from Vacaville, California, said: "I was working on the transmission link on my pick-up and I had it all fixed and everything."

"I remembered I needed to tighten one more thing on the linkage. And when I did it, that popped the truck into gear and it started rolling."

With the truck perched on a steep driveway and only wheel blocks in place, the moment it slipped into gear, gravity took over.

"When it popped into gear, I thought 'oh sh*t'," he said. "

"I knew it was going to roll because I have a slant on my driveway - it's pretty substantial. "

"So I knew right then I was in trouble."

Security footage shows the truck lurching backwards as Jeff, still underneath, scrambles to escape.

After making it to the street, Jeff made an attempt to jump in and stop the runaway vehicle — only to be knocked down again.

"It actually ran over my left side and my elbow as I crawled out from under it," he said."

"When I went out in the street I tried to jump in it and I just slipped, and then it caught my foot under the tire and ran over my right side at that point."

Amazingly, the truck eventually came to a stop, and Jeff got back on his feet to park it.

Jeff went to the doctor the next day and had some x-rays taken, but nothing was broken.

"So I pretty much beat myself up," he said."

"And then I got back up and went back to work."
