SHOTLIST: GAZA, PALESTINE (MAY 21, 2025) (ANADOLU - ACCESS ALL) 1. VARIOUS OF MAKESHIFT TENTS IN DEVASTATED AREA 2. (SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) AMJAD AL-SHAWA, DIRECTOR OF PALESTINIAN NGO NETWORK IN GAZA, SPEAKING TO REPORTER, SAYING: "There are dozens of trucks loaded with food aid that have exited from the Israeli side toward the plaza area of the crossing on the Palestinian side. However, the Israeli occupation is obstructing their passage to the United Nations warehouses, where the aid is supposed to be distributed to bakeries, community kitchens, and health clinics — all in an effort to alleviate the difficult humanitarian situation." [...] "The suffering is worsening, and we fear the loss of lives due to hunger, the lack of medicines and medical supplies, and the inability to cope with this humanitarian crisis under the current circumstances. We stress the urgent need to accelerate efforts to pressure the Israeli occupation authorities to fully open the crossings, especially since there are 130,000 tons of aid waiting outside the borders for entry into the Gaza Strip. While the Israeli occupation claims to allow limited daily quantities into Gaza, nothing has entered so far." 3. VARIOUS OF DISPLACED PALESTINIANS 4. (SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) NAHLA AL-BAYARI, DISPLACED WOMAN LIVING IN MAKESHIFT TENT, SPEAKING TO REPORTER, SAYING: [...] "They say they will open things, they say they will give you something, but nothing comes. Life is extremely hard for us, especially for the little ones — the children — who are suffering." [...] "If we had flour, that would be something. But even that, we don’t have. If a truck comes, what is five bags going to do? What we need is much more than that." 5. VARIOUS OF MAKESHIFT TENTS IN DEVASTATED AREAGAZA, PALESTINE - MAY 21, 2025: Despite Israeli claims of allowing limited humanitarian aid into the besieged Gaza Strip, local sources report that no aid trucks have reached the enclave, as the humanitarian crisis continues to escalate. Since March 2, Israel has imposed a complete blockade on Gaza, using starvation as a weapon of war in violation of international law. While under international pressure, Israel announced it would permit limited aid to avert famine, Palestinians on the ground say these claims are misleading. Amjad al-Shawa, Director of the Palestinian NGO Network in Gaza, said that over two months of severe blockade have led to widespread hunger and critical shortages in medicine, with deaths already recorded due to the deteriorating conditions. "We stress the urgent need to accelerate efforts to pressure the Israeli occupation authorities to fully open the crossings, especially since there are 130,000 tons of aid waiting outside the borders for entry into the Gaza Strip." al-Shawa told Anadolu. Nahla al-Bayari, a displaced Palestinian woman sheltering in a makeshift tent in northern Gaza, voiced her frustration. "They say they will open things, they say they will give you something, but nothing comes," she said, "Life is extremely hard for us, especially for the little ones — the children — who are suffering." Israel continues its systematic starvation of 2.4 million Palestinians in Gaza by sealing off crossings and blocking aid stockpiled at the borders since March 2, pushing the territory into famine and causing numerous deaths. The UN has also confirmed that although Israel claims to have permitted the entry of 93 trucks, aid has not reached the intended recipients in Gaza. According to local authorities, 326 people have died from hunger, malnutrition, and lack of medicine since March 2. Additionally, over 300 miscarriages have been recorded as a result of the blockade. The Government Media Office emphasized that not a single truck carrying humanitarian aid, medical supplies, or fuel has entered the enclave since the total embargo began. The military, meanwhile, has intensified its genocide in Gaza, with the announcement of a ground operation in the northern and southern parts of the enclave. The army has pursued a brutal offensive against Gaza since October 2023, killing nearly 53,600 Palestinians, most of them women and children. The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants last November for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave. Reporting by Anas Zeyad Fteha // Writing by Mustafa Tuncer
