K Pop star pleads with fans not to grab him
A Korean Pop star pleaded with fans not to grab him during a public appearance.
Kim Seok Jin, 32, has appealed to fans to respect his personal space during a recent public appearance.
The BTS member, known as Jin, made the request during a Hi-Touch event held in Seoul, South Korea, on May 18.
Footage shows the singer-songwriter standing on stage as he politely addressed the crowd, saying: 'Please, don't grab my hands and touch, please. Thank you.'
Hi-Touch events are a popular feature in K-pop culture, where fans briefly interact with idols through high-fives or handshakes. However, concerns have grown over incidents of inappropriate physical contact during such encounters.
K-pop idols are increasingly speaking out about being touched or grabbed by fans during public events, raising calls for stricter security and greater respect for artists' boundaries.
In similar past incidents, BLACKPINK's Lisa was surrounded by fans at a Paris airport in 2022, overwhelming security personnel.
In 2019, BTS's Jungkook was pulled by fans in an overseas airport, prompting criticism and appeals for better crowd management.
Experts say the intense emotional attachment between fans and idols can blur boundaries, leading to unwanted interactions.
While fan enthusiasm is important to the industry, artists and agencies continue to urge supporters to engage respectfully and avoid behaviour that could cause discomfort or harm.
