This is the moment muddy flash floods swept away a local's pickup truck as bad weather hit northern Thailand.

Dramatic footage shows the vehicle tilted in the path of surging brown water in Nakhon Ratchasima on May 19.

The helpless driver had to jump off and abandon his car when the deluge flowed and washed him away.

No one was hurt, but the truck was damaged from being submerged in dirty water.

Local Lamai Lamsan said: 'I was on the way home from work when there was a flash flood after a heavy rain.'

The Thai Meteorological Department said southeasterly and southerly winds prevail over northern and eastern regions, while the southwest monsoon dominates the Andaman Sea and the western part of the tropical country.
