Festival goers went into a frenzy as they rushed to grab free giveaways during a crowded celebration.

Footage shows the locals tearing down trees to scramble for gifts during Agawan Festival in Quezon, the Philippines.

One of the residents climbed up a branch to hog all the prizes before it snapped and he fell onto neighbours on May 15.

Some house owners threw coins, banknotes, and food from their balconies onto the street for everyone to get.

Jan Maverick Faller, who attended the festivities, said: 'That was what happened at Agawan in Sariaya. It was so much fun.'

The Agawan Festival is a lively and colourful harvest festival celebrated in honour of Saint Isidore the Labourer, the patron saint of farmers.
