British tourist, 42, arrested after rampage through villa in Bali
A British tourist was arrested over a rampage in a villa in Bali.
Rupert Kimber, 42, scared guests when he allegedly barged into the holiday property in Gianyar on May 20.
He then emerged without a shirt before gnawing on a phone charger, sparking alarm among other tourists.
Villa staff said they tried to talk to the Brit, but he kept rambling incoherently. They called the police,e fearing he would cause further damage.
Officers soon arrived to detain Rupert, who did not resist arrest. Footage shows him appearing confused and scared as he was ushered into a police truck. He later stuck his tongue out at an officer after putting on a hoodie.
I Made Watha, dead of the Gianyar police, said: 'The suspect's actions were disruptive, and the local community quickly reported him.
'While being arrested, he did not resist. He was then taken to the Gianyarpolice office for further processing.
'We brought him to Immigration, but due to concerns about his mental health, he has since been taken to Prof Ngoerah Hospital in Denpasar for a psychiatric evaluation.'
Authorities said they were waiting for the results of the medical examination before taking the next steps.
Bali is a popular tourist destination known for its beautiful natural landscape, rich culture, and vibrant party scene.
However, the influx of unruly holidaymakers has caused frequent clashes with locals, traffic congestion, environmental degradation, and desecration of cultural heritage sites.
