ARLINGTON, Va. — Soldiers from the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment, known as The Old Guard, placed U.S. flags at every gravesite Thursday at Arlington National Cemetery and the U.S. Soldiers' and Airmen's Home National Cemetery in Washington, D.C., in preparation for Memorial Day.

The annual tradition, known as “Flags In,” honors fallen service members and includes support from residents of the Armed Forces Retirement Home. Thousands of flags were carefully positioned ahead of the holiday weekend as a solemn tribute to those who served.

The event marks a powerful moment of national remembrance, led by those who continue to serve.
