Torrential rain spawned flash floods that damaged roads in northeast Thailand.

Heavy downpours battered Nakhon Ratchasima triggering a deluge 12 inches deep on Wednesday.

Video shows muddy water surging near the Kaeng Hin Phloeng Waterfall area. Roads were left waterlogged and pocked with deep potholes as the flood eroded the pavement.

The Nakhon Ratchasima Meteorological Station said 57mm of rain was recorded.

The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation today issued a flash flood warning across 52 Thai provinces, including Nakhon Ratchasima.

The severe weather was caused by a stronger southwest monsoon and a monsoon trough passing over northern Thailand and the upper part of southern Thailand.

Thailand and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are at the start of their annual monsoon rainy season which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms. The rudimentary infrastructure often struggles with the deluge, leading to widespread flash floods.
