United States - May 23, 2025 A fast-moving brush fire known as the Innfire has triggered mandatory evacuations in Mono City and surrounding areas north of Lee Vining. As of May 23 at 6:00 a.m., evacuation orders remain in effect. The most recent update confirmed that Mono City is now under a mandatory evacuation. The order extends from Tioga Lodge to Mono Inn, affecting critical zones MCU-E023, MCU-E024-A, MCU-E024-B, and MCU-E025. Evacuation centers have been set up at Bridgeport Memorial Hall and the Lee Vining Community Center to support displaced residents. U.S. Highway 395 is currently closed from Lee Vining to State Route 167 due to fire activity. No estimated time for reopening has been provided. Southbound drivers must detour via State Route 167, while northbound traffic is rerouted to U.S. 6 in Bishop. The fire, fueled by dry brush and wind, reached 538 acres as of 9:45 p.m. last night, according to the Southern California intelligence center.
