Australia - May 23, 2025 Cundleton, Australia – Drone footage recorded at 12:30 p.m. on May 23 shows massive flooding on the Pacific Highway north of Cundleton, as extreme weather paralyzes New South Wales. Multiple major roads across the region remain closed due to widespread flooding, landslides, and dangerous driving conditions. In Greater Sydney, closures include Sackville Ferry, Lower Portland Ferry, Springwood Road at Yarramundi Bridge, and Cambridge Avenue at Glenfield. Additional closures affect Riverside Drive in North Ryde, Ku-Ring-Gai Chase Road in North Turramurra, and several key routes in Pitt Town and McGraths Hill. South of Sydney, Macquarie Pass on the Illawarra Highway and Terry Street in Albion Park are shut. In the Hunter and Mid North Coast regions, the Pacific Highway is closed in both directions between Coopernook and Purfleet near Taree. Closures also include Giinagay Way in Macksville, the Oxley Highway, Waterfall Way due to a landslide, and numerous roads in Failford, Raymond Terrace, East Maitland, and Newcastle. Authorities warn the public to avoid all non-essential travel in flood-affected zones and to never drive through floodwaters.
