United States - June 16, 2024 Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve Alaska – A spruce grouse hen and her chicks were caught on video crossing a road. The hen led the way followed by two chicks at first. One by one, the rest of the five fluffy chicks crossed, with the last lagging behind. The reason for their road crossing is unknown but it is a clear reminder to drive carefully in Glacier Bay. June is the month when spruce grouse chicks often follow their mothers. Visitors and drivers are urged to watch for these young birds before they grow up. Respecting wildlife is important to keep these precious creatures safe.
