Phoenix, United States - May 24, 2025 05/23/2025 10:47 pm GMT-0700 GLENDALE, Ariz. – Special Assignment Units (SWAT) from the cities of Goodyear and Phoenix have apprehended a suspect following a tactical surveillance operation stemming from a felony flight. According to preliminary information, Goodyear tactical units attempted to stop a male suspect wanted for violent carjacking-related charges. The time and location of the initial attempted traffic stop have yet to be confirmed. The suspect refused to yield, and felony flight was established. The Phoenix Police Department helicopter responded and began assisting ground units with aerial surveillance. Units did not initiate a pursuit and chose to establish a tactical surveillance operation. Special Assignment Units from Phoenix responded to assist Goodyear SAU. Goodyear and Phoenix tactical units in unmarked vehicles tracked the suspect from surveillance positions at a distance while the air unit observed the suspect from above. The suspect led units through the cities of Glendale, Phoenix, and Tolleson for over an hour. At approximately 10:47 p.m., tactical units converged on the suspect's vehicle as it traveled east on Camelback Road near 45th Avenue. A high-risk traffic stop was initiated, and the suspect was taken into custody without further incident. The Goodyear Police Department is taking the lead as the handling agency regarding this incident.
