Disco ball falls into crowd alongside bride leaving at least three injured
A spinning disco ball crashed down onto a bride during her pre-wedding celebration, injuring her and two others.
Footage shows the bride and guests enjoying the dance floor before screaming and ducking for cover as the large mirror ball suddenly falls from the ceiling during the kina gecesi – a traditional Turkish pre-wedding henna night.
The party had been in full swing with music and dancing, and the bride, at the centre of attention, was being filmed when the fixture broke free and plummeted into the centre of the room.
Several people can be seen clutching their heads and shielding themselves as shards of glass fly across the venue in Izmit, Kocaeli Province, Turkey.
The huge ball knocked the fiancee to the ground, as guests rushed over to help her.
Emergency services were quickly called, and at least three individuals were treated for injuries on site, including the bride, who suffered head wounds on Friday, May 16.
Reports indicated that she was later hospitalised for treatment.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the collapse, which is believed to have been the result of faulty mounting.
