Heavy rains and thunderstorms have caused flooding at Mumbai Metro’s Acharya Atre Chowk station on the Aqua Line 3, which is still under construction. The station was inundated as rainwater broke through the preventive barriers, flooding the stairs and forcing passengers to navigate knee-deep water.

Due to this, Mumbai Metro has temporarily curtailed train services on Line 3, operating only up to Worli Station instead of Acharya Atre Chowk. The metro authority apologized for the inconvenience caused.

Meanwhile, Mumbai is grappling with widespread waterlogging as the southwest monsoon brings heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds. The India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for the city.

Several roads across Mumbai are submerged, disrupting traffic and making commuting difficult. Colaba recorded the highest rainfall this morning, followed by other areas such as Bandra, Santacruz, and Juhu Airport.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation as residents navigate the challenges posed by the severe weather.
