Bakersfield, United States - May 24, 2025 05/24/2025 04:40 pm GMT-0700 ROSAMOND, Calif. – Multiple agencies responded to a Rosamond structure fire. A structure fire broke out on the 6200 block of Sweetser Road in Rosamond at approximately 4:40 p.m. Firefighters from multiple stations and counties responded to the scene after the fire was upgraded to a 2-alarm status. Arriving firefighters found a home involved in heavy smoke and fire. According to the Kern County Fire Department, strong winds fueled the flames, igniting trees, vehicles, farm equipment, outbuildings and yard clutter. A neighboring home to the west had already collapsed and was a total loss. While attacking the blaze, firefighters searched the home's interior and found an unharmed dog, which was reunited with its owners. The firefight was challenging due to the lack of a nearby water source. Fire engines shuttled in tanks of water from miles away to maintain a steady flow, reported the Kern County FD. The blaze was ultimately contained but required additional efforts to fully extinguish the smoldering debris across the property. According to the Kern County FD, two adults and two children were displaced. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is undetermined.
