Beach comber turns ocean trash into colourful art
An artist collects trash from the local beach and turns it into colourful sculptures.
Footage shows Pedro Angco, 61, cutting pieces of rubber from a discarded slipper that he took home to repurpose in Bohol, the Philippines.
He made collages, paintings, and other artworks using plastic bottles, broken flip-flops, bottle caps, and other debris he gathered from the shoreline.
His creations burst with colour and texture, depicting everyday scenes.
Tourist Rona Lacsina, who visited Pedro's gallery on May 24, said: 'Mr Pedro Angco is a Boholanon artist who turns sea pollution into stunning and meaningful art.'
The elderly man would be seen every morning combing across the beach with a sack behind him, where he put garbage.
Pedro said: 'The garbage in the sea is a sad reality of what human beings have done to the environment.
'This is a real talk. The waste or garbage we create, it is coming back to haunt us.'
