Two Chinese fugitives wanted by Interpol over money laundering charges were arrested at an airport in Thailand.

Zhao Chuanbo, 41, and Huang Jianping, 39, allegedly washed dirty money through luxury hotels in Bangkok.

They were detained at the Suvarnabhumi International Airport on May 20, following intel from Yin Qianying, an imprisoned Chinese fraud suspect turned police informant.

Police Major Kittinan Aksornsom of the Pak Kret Police Station said: 'It was discovered that the suspects had brought money from China for laundering through the purchase of a luxury hotel in Silom worth 5 billion baht (113 million GBP). There are numerous other assets involved.'

Police said the pair will be charged with 'conspiracy to commit extortion and conspiracy to damage, destroy, conceal, dispose of, or render useless any will or documents belonging to others in a manner likely to cause damage to others or the public'. They were sent to court with objection to bail.

Authorities said they were securing warrants for other suspects believed to be involved in the money laundering scheme.
