Accompanied by Queen Camilla, King Charles III arrived in Ottawa for a royal visit on Monday. The King delivered the speech from the throne in parliament that marks the first time in nearly 70 years that a Canadian monarch opens parliament. Canada is a member of the Commonwealth of Nations and a former British colony. King Charles is the nominal head of state of Canada. To date, Charles has been silent about the repeated chirping by US President Donald Trump claiming to make Canada the "51st state."
