..AKSARAY, TÜRKİYE - MAY 27, 2025: Home to thousands of bird species, Central Türkiye’s renowned Lake Tuz is shrinking rapidly due to declining rainfall and the growing impact of global warming. Footage, captured on Tuesday (May 27), reveals patches of dried earth in Türkiye's second-largest lake, replacing its once lush, nurturing waters and creating surreal images. Lake Tuz (Salt) used to cover an area equivalent to 130,000 football fields, but due to the impact of drought and climate change, it has shrunk to just 13,000 football fields—one-tenth of its original size. As the natural habitat of various bird species, especially flamingos, the lake continues to shrink each year, posing a serious threat to the continuity of natural life. Writing by Ayse Elif Erdis
