A starving cat wedged between a wall and a water tank for two days was saved in Thailand.

Animal rescue workers rushed to the scene after reports of a stray trapped in a district office in Chonburi on May 19.

They found the black kitten stuck in a tight gap beside the wall.

Footage shows the wildlife handlers trying to reach the mewling feline using snake poles. After 30 minutes, they managed to grab onto its neck and hoisted it to safety.

Resident Phanphon Chalermsuk, 40, said: 'I heard the cat crying at around 8 pm. I was worried that it was inside the tank and would drown so I called the rescue team for assistance. Thank you to the staff for doing their best to save this cat.'

The volunteers believe the cat had been trapped for around two days. It was given cat food and water to help it recover its strength.
