Bakersfield, United States - May 27, 2025 05/27/2025 01:17 pm GMT-0700 BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Kern County Fire Department responded to a collision involving an orange pickup truck and a school bus Tuesday morning. According to California Highway Patrol Sgt. Ryan Witcher, the male driver of the pickup truck, was traveling westbound on Tulare Avenue at approximately 30 mph when he failed to stop at a posted stop sign. The school bus, carrying 16 students and traveling southbound on Wasco Avenue, was struck on its left side by the pickup. The impact caused both vehicles to veer out of control into a nearby orchard. Both drivers sustained minor injuries, while several students reported pain; no visible injuries were noted. The exact number of injured students remains unclear. Authorities found no indications of drugs or alcohol in the drivers. After the incident, students were taken back to school to reunite with their parents.
