US, Bakersfield: Bakersfield Police Shoot Dog Amid Foot Pursuit
Bakersfield, United States - May 28, 2025 05/27/2025 08:58 pm GMT-0700 BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Officers with the Bakersfield Police Department shot a dog during a foot pursuit near the intersection of Margalo Court and Sara Jane Street at approximately 8:58 p.m., according to initial reports. Police were reportedly chasing a suspect through a backyard on Margalo Court when a dog allegedly tried to attack the officers. Shots were fired, and the dog was hit. Animal control responded to the scene. A man was seen using a sheet to load the dog into the back of a truck. No officers appeared to be injured. A suspect was observed being detained in the back of a police vehicle.
