This is the dramatic moment a shopkeeper was dragged along the road while trying to stop a brazen thief on a motorbike.

Burmese mother Ton Da Eh, 31, was walking to the local market when the drive-by thug snatched her bag in Chonburi, eastern Thailand, on May 27.

CCTV footage shows her stumbling on the pavement as she clung onto her belongings and refused to let go. She was pulled some 130ft along the concrete in front of shocked drivers before releasing her grip.

The robber - seen not wearing a helmet - fled, leaving her injured on the ground.

Police were called to the scene at around 5 pm. They found Ton with deep abrasions on her knees. She said the suspect had stolen her bag containing 9,000 baht, her phone, and personal documents.

Police Colonel Khomsan Khamtunkaew, superintendent of the Sattahip District Police Station, said: ‘We have ordered an investigation team to collect evidence and check surveillance cameras along the suspect's escape route to track him down for legal action.

‘This is the first time someone has carried out a snatching this bold and outrageous in the Sattahip area.'

Authorities said they were confident the suspect would be caught soon as his face was clearly visible in surveillance footage.
