American tourist attacked by angry locals after smashing cannabis shop window
This is the shocking moment a rampaging American tourist was attacked by furious locals over property damage in Pattaya.
The holidaymaker reportedly went berserk when the shopkeeper refused to give him a discount on vapes in the Thai 'Sin City' on May 27.
He was said to have stormed out onto the street and launched into a drunken tirade.
Footage shows the American appearing to have a meltdown as his friend pleaded for him to calm down. The friend was seen trying to pull him away but he bent over to pick up a rock.
Roaring with rage, the vengeful customer hurled the object, shattering the glass window of the cannabis dispensary.
Vengeful vendors began screeching as a Thai man punched him, with the pair viciously trading blows on the street.
Both men were prised apart and later hauled to the Pattaya City Police Station to explain themselves.
The tourist suffered scrapes on his knees, and bruises and cuts on his face.
Police Major Wutthinan Kongdee said: ‘We have obtained video evidence of the moment the foreigner broke the glass window. However, we are still gathering more evidence to ensure fairness for both sides.'
Thailand was among the first Asian nations to decriminalise marijuana, though the lack of regulations caused a surge in unregulated sales and use. Tourist areas like Bangkok, Phuket, and Pattaya have seen the negative consequence, with holidaymakers regularly arrested for misbehaving while under the influence of cannabis.
Government officials are now seeking to outlaw recreational cannabis use by requiring medical certificates to purchase the drug. \
