SANAA, YEMEN - MAY 29, 2025: All flights from Yemen’s Sanaa International Airport were suspended on Thursday, May 29, following a series of Israeli airstrikes that targeted the facility. According to Yemen Airways, the suspension came after Israeli warplanes carried out a new wave of airstrikes on the airport, reportedly hitting one of the planes on the ground. Khaled al-Shaif, the airport’s general manager, told reporters that the strikes directly disrupted airport operations, prompting an immediate halt to all scheduled flights. No casualties have been reported so far, though damage assessments are ongoing. Houthi-affiliated Al-Masirah TV reported that four Israeli airstrikes on Wednesday targeted the airport’s runway and a Yemenia Airways plane. The attack marked Israel’s 10th attack on Yemen since Tel Aviv began its genocidal war against Gaza. Previous targets included cement factories, power stations and seaports, with repeated strikes on the same sites rather than expanding the scope. The Houthis have intensified missile and drone strikes on Israel since Tel Aviv resumed military attacks on Gaza in March. Since November 2023, the Houthis have also targeted commercial shipping in the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden and Arabian Sea in support of Palestinians in Gaza, where more than 54,000 victims have been killed in the Israeli offensive.
