SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. — The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office had a new leader for the day — and his name was Stone.

During the agency’s first annual SCSO Block Party, young Stone completed his Passport activity card and won the drawing to become “Sheriff for the Day.” Wasting no time in building his command staff, Stone appointed his brother, Ledger, as his “Colonel,” ensuring the duo shared every part of the adventure.

After their official swearing-in, the two headed to the studio for their portraits before taking over the desks — and even giving Sheriff Kurt Hoffman and Colonel Brian Woodring the day off.

Next came training. From driving simulations where they humorously adopted the motto, “If you can’t dodge it, ram it!” to virtual reality taser scenarios and gun safety lessons, the brothers excelled in their crash course in law enforcement.

The event, filled with smiles and snapshots, was part of the agency’s effort to bring the community together and inspire future leaders.
