NYPD officer injured in Bronx attack as both suspects are caught
This is the heartwarming moment a New York City Police Department (NYPD) officer was discharged from the hospital following an attack in the Bronx.
Officer Chowdhury Nafees was assaulted and robbed by two burglars near St Peters Avenue in the Parkchester section on Saturday, May 24, around 4 am.
Police said the suspects forced Chowdhury to the ground, struck him in the face, and held a knife to his throat before robbing his iPhone, wallet, and service weapon.
The officer sustained multiple severe facial fractures.
Footage shows him being discharged from the hospital on Wednesday, surrounded by loved ones and fellow officers and greeted with cheers and well wishes.
The NYPD confirmed that both suspects have been apprehended.
