Farmer uses torches to lure termites for his chickens to feast on
This is the impressive moment a farmer used torches to lure termites for his chickens to feast on.
The clever farmworker came up with the idea of attracting the wood-eating insects using two high-powered flashlights for his hens in Hainan, China.
Footage shows the beams of light illuminating a wall, drawing swarms of termites into the glow on May 8.
This prompted the flock to eagerly peck at the air and ground, feasting on the insects as more continued to gather in the light.
Winged termites are attracted to lights at night as part of their reproductive flight behaviour.
