Storyline: Palestinians in Gaza continue to suffer from intensifying Israeli attacks and the ensuing widespread inflation, famine and disease as the ongoing conflict marks its 600th-day anniversary with no clear end in sight. A statement released on Thursday by the Gaza-based health authorities on Thursday said the Palestinian death toll in the Strip rose to 54,249, with 123,492 others injured since the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas conflict in early Oct 2023. The statement said that since Israel resumed intensive airstrikes on March 18, following the collapse of a two-month ceasefire, at least 3,986 Palestinians have been killed and 11,451 injured. A released video shot on Wednesday and shared by Algeria's EPTV News with China Central Television (CCTV) showed displaced Palestinians suffered acute injuries from Israeli airstrikes, which have destroyed countless communities in the Strip and caused great human loss and heartbreaks to Palestinians. As Israel's blockage of international aid continues, Gaza's residents said they are being robbed of the hope for a peaceful life. Israel's undifferentiated killing of civilians has left behind a horrifying trail of death, and for those who have survived blanket bombardments, living conditions remain intolerable. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Thursday that his government accepts U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff's proposal for a Gaza ceasefire and hostage release. The proposal does not require Israel to commit to ending its 19-month offensive in Gaza but requires that both Israel and Hamas engage in negotiations on a long-term truce.
