This is the moment a musician played the world's most dangerous drum solo inside a "globe of death" as two motorbikes narrowly zoomed past his head at 40mph."

Drummer Brandon Ross Macpherson is said to have become the first person to ever play an instrument inside the steel sphere, often used by circus stunt riders as a grand finale.

Heart-stopping footage of the incredible stunt shows Brandon positioned on a drum kit in the middle of the globe as two bikers race by just inches away from him.

The 25-year-old daredevil, from Nuneaton ,Warks., said: "There is a lot of trust needed between me and the two riders as one false move could have devastating consequences."

"It's death-defying, one wrong move and that could be it. Two bikes and a drum kit locked in a cage, if that goes wrong it's a big deal."

Brandon can be seen playing Arctic Monkeys 'Brianstorm' while stunt riders Yaxson David Cation Sanchez and Jamil Avanzi Silva rode their motorcycles at breakneck speeds.

As part of the show at Circus Extreme the riders execute vertical and horizontal loops under G-force pressures said to be similar to those experienced by fighter pilots.

Brandon first became part of the circus by following in his father's footsteps by learning knife-throwing and is now a full-time part of the show.

He added: "Whenever I had time off school I would visit my dad whilst he was on tour with various circus shows performing his knife throwing act, which is were my passion for performing stems from, he is a huge inspiration for me."

"Now I can't believe this is my job. It's nerve-wracking and you get anxious at times - but it's an incredible feeling."

"You'll be on the edge of your seat, you'll have to sit for a minute and process what is going on in front of you. "

"It defies gravity for starters, you won't see anything like this at any other show in the UK. It's a rush. It's mad."

"But that's what circus is about, it's a different way of life."

This years production includes a new addition of a live rock band which sees Brandon also doing a drum solo 5m (16ft) high on a revolving platform.

Circus director Anthony Anderson said: "Our audiences absolutely love Brandon."

"Here at Circus Extreme we like to push the boundaries of what is physically possible to provide the best in entertainment and this mornings stunt is just a taste of things to come.'"

Circus Extreme continues its run of shows at NEC Birmingham until June 1 before continuing its tour across the UK.
