A peaceful family hike in California’s Claremont Loop took an unexpected turn when Ulises Hernandez’s son spotted a bear at the three-mile mark. Acting quickly, Ulises urged his family to back up slowly, stressing the importance of walking, not running. As they made their way down, they encountered other hikers and warned them to do the same.

Once at a safe distance, Ulises captured the incredible moment on video, filming the bear as it descended the mountain until it finally disappeared. The calm, level-headed response resonated with viewers, propelling the clip to over a million views on TikTok.

I was hiking the Claremont loop with my family. My girlfriend my son and her daughter. It was a normal day like always intel we were at the 3 mile mark of the loop and that’s when my son saw the bear. He right away told us and I saw it once I looked up. That’s when I told everyone to back up slowly and make sure to walk not to run. On are way down we saw more group of people and told them to back up slowly as well. When we got to a safe distance that’s when I started recording the bear coming down the mountain intel it was out of sight.
