SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Springfield police officers turned rescuers last week when they saved a stranded baby deer from an unexpected spot — the bottom of an empty swimming pool.

Officers Vorse, Claunch and Davis responded to a call about a fawn in distress. Upon arrival, they found the young deer unable to escape the pool on its own.

Without hesitation, Officer Vorse climbed in, gently scooped up the fawn, and carried it to safety. The rescue ended in a heartwarming moment as the fawn was reunited with its mother, who had been waiting nearby.

The Springfield Police Department shared the uplifting story on social media, reminding the community that police work isn’t always about citations or arrests — sometimes, it’s about lending a hand (or hoof).
