Los Angeles, United States - May 30, 2025 05/30/2025 03:00 am GMT-0700 BOYLE HEIGHTS, LOS ANGELES, Calif. – East Los Angeles officers from the California Highway Patrol engaged in a pursuit of a silver Aston Martin that was speeding over 70 mph on surface streets. Due to safety concerns, the officers terminated the chase. Meanwhile, a Los Angeles police Department airship in the area began to track the suspect. Shortly after, the suspect crashed into a light pole at the intersection of Soto Street and Washington Boulevard. The driver fled on foot, running west on Washington. Officers apprehended the suspect and took him into custody. During a search, the suspect became unconscious. Officers then requested paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department to the scene. LAFD arrived and began to administer aid and CPR, but ultimately, the suspect was declared deceased at the scene. The traffic lights at the intersection of Soto and Washington were out, prompting LAPD to request a central traffic unit to handle the investigation of the fatal crash. CHP East Los Angeles is also on scene and will be taking over the investigation.
