Los Angeles, United States - June 01, 2025 06/01/2025 04:05 pm GMT-0700 CASTAIC, Calif. – Rescue crews are actively searching for a missing kayaker in the lower lagoon of Castaic Lake after strong winds reportedly overturned a kayak, sending two people into the water this afternoon. The incident was reported around 12:30 p.m. by Castaic Lake lifeguards. According to initial reports, a woman wearing a life jacket was pulled from the water and safely rescued. Her companion, a man who was kayaking alongside her, remains missing. Dive teams have been deployed to assist in the search efforts. Authorities have not yet released the identities of those involved. The search remains ongoing. Copter 12 arrived from Santa Monica Airport shortly after 1:30 p.m. and dropped off Dive Team 1. Air Rescue 5 arrived shortly before 4 p.m. with the Special Enforcement Bureau as the sheriff's department took over the investigation.
