Dragon boat sinks mid-race during festival in China
On May 31, during a Dragon Boat Festival celebration in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, a dragon boat began to sink mid-race, eventually causing all the team members to fall into the water.
According to Mr. Jiang, a member of the dragon boat team, the local competition rules are not based on speed, but rather on the height of the splashes made during rowing. The higher the splashes, the more auspicious the symbolism — with more water reaching the dragon's head signifying good weather and a bountiful harvest.
