Two music students have banded together to play a single violin at the same time.

Mona Milota, 22, and Mona Hochschwarzer, 23, began playing the same violin simultaneously about a month ago.

During an orchestra rehearsal at their university, where they both study violin, the friends got bored and decided to try playing one instrument together.

They pair was surprised at how quickly they picked it up.

It took them less than two hours to figure out how to

how to play as a duo on a single instrument.

Now they have learnt to play several songs and showcase their unusual talent on the social media, where their videos have amassed millions of views.



Mona Milota, a music student in Vienna, Austria, said: "It has become such a source of fun for us."

"We tried it out just to have a laugh and that is what it has continued as."

"It's nice to play about with the music sometimes because the regular stuff can feel the same sometimes."

"The fact that we're both called Mona is just a funny coincidence that we got over years ago."

The pair met four years ago when they both attended the same class while studying classic violin at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (mdw).

Mona Hochschwarzer has just graduated from their university and Mona Milota has another year of study ahead of her.

Mona Hochschwarzer said: "We both hope to be professional classical violinists but it can be tricky to be successful at."

"These videos are just a fun way to show off our creativity."
